On July 29,1843, members of different Baptist churches living in Warsaw, assembled at the Gallatin County Courthouse for the purpose of forming a Baptist organization in this place.

A resolution was unanimously adopted that a Baptist Church be duly constituted and organized in Warsaw. At this session, the membership which consisted of 12 white and 8 African American, voted unanimously in adoption of articles of Faith and the church covenant, which were read by John L. Waller.

Elder John Scott was called as the first pastor of the Warsaw Baptist Church, with each member being assessed 50 cents a month to meet expenses.

In July 1845, the present corner lot was bought for $100.00, and a brick building was constructed at a cost of $800.00. The building was completed in 1845, with the Methodists renting the meetinghouse in 1857 for $1.00 a month for quarter time services.

The church apparently ceased active functions during the years 1862 - 1867. Records indicate reorganization in April 1867, with W. H. Williams being called as pastor and remaining five years.

In May 1882, the old building was torn down and a new one built with dedication in December 1882.

This building experienced a number of redecorations until a building and remodeling program was started in late 1948 during the pastorate of Bradford Curry. The dedication was held in April 1950 while Robert Willetts was pastor.

An educational building was added in 1957 at a cost of about $12,000. This building was severely damaged and the sanctuary completely destroyed by fire on November 20, 1973.

The construction on the present building began in November 1974, under the direction of Bill Batson, architect, and Danzel Perkins, general contractor. The completion came in time for evening services on January 18, 1976, with the first Sunday School and morning worship conducted on Sunday, February 1, 1976.

During the interim period of planning and building, the Warsaw Baptist Church held regular services in the Gallatin County Courthouse for 26 months. Not a single regular service had to be dismissed for lack of a meeting place.

The cost of $265,775.81 is the complete cost of all phases of planning, construction, and equipment for the full church building.
